Estimated time to print with cardsandpockets.com (Wedding invite tips: Part 4)

How much time does it take to print wedding invites with an online printer? One of the top wedding invite printers is cardsandpockets.com. Many wedding invite designers on etsy use this paper and printer vendor.

If you ask them how long it will take to print your invites, you'll get an answer that goes something like this:
"Current processing time for print jobs is only 4-8 business days before shipping. Optional mounting services add 3-5 business days."

What about a physical proof? That is certainly included with this 4-8 business days, right? Nope. Ask cardsandpockets about proofs and they'll tell you, "Processing time for samples (without mounting) is currently 2-4 business days before shipping- orders go into processing the next business day after they have been placed."

That's lots of estimated times flying around. What does it all mean? Here's the total estimated time for them to do the entire process:

  • Send proof: 1 business day
  • Sample proof: 2-4 business days
  • Shipping: 1 day with overnight shipping
  • Approval: 1 business day
  • Actual printing: 4-8 business days
  • Mounting services: 3-5 business days
  • Shipping: 1 day with overnight shipping

That brings the total to 13-21 business days. Figuring in five business days a week, that is 2.5 weeks to 4 weeks.

When planning your wedding invites, allow four weeks from when you place your order to when you get the final printed pieces. And that's if everything goes completely smoothly.

Sarah and I didn't have that amount of time, so we ordered just the paper. I did the printing and cutting myself.
